Hello fellow DA members! (:
It has been a very long time since I last checked in! I hope you are all doing well. :aww:
I can't believe it, but it was over a year ago that I last submitted artwork...
So, needless to say, there isn't likely to be anymore artwork... at least for now.

I have left a note underneath the 'Newest Deviations' regarding what I am leaving public, with having
decided to put my art into storage until I have returned to DA proper.
I hope you all understand.

Thank you for all of your support I have received over the years, I appreciate it a lot!
I wish you all the very best for now and the future.
Take care, and hopefully, we shall meet again soon!

*Edit: Ok, it is saying April 1st for the entry date when here in England it is actually the 2nd of April... How awkward. >.<

Yes, it does. (:

Hello everyone. (:
I hope you are all doing well, despite the crappy weather we've had.
I'm not even going to mention how terrible it is when I'm living in the highest town of my county, as well as having a place on a hill. :/
Though, I hope this weather front moves on soon as it's getting ridiculous... It really is.

Well, the end of last year was upsetting, so I'm hoping this year will be kinder to me... Though, I don't think it will as nothing will change. ):

Anyways, I know I say it (A LOT) but I hope to have more art up this year.
I want to try out new things, as well as improve on my current skills. I'm no where near where I want to be.
This year, I hope to get a step closer.

There is something I'm looking forward to this year: March 14th. That's all I'm saying. :D
Those of you who know what that date entails, then high-five. :XD:

Anyways, that's all really. I just wanted to update my journal aha. :L

Hey everyone! (:
I hope you are all well and good! If not, as always, here's a hug for you -- :huggle: (:

If you couldn't tell by the title, yesterday I was at Eurogamer and it was a blast! The crowd was bigger than ever, and as always, the atmosphere was great. The main attraction for me was Dark Souls II; my friend and I were buzzing and super excited for it! :D
So we had a go, aware of the Namco Bandai Challenge (the link is here my friends: [...]), my friend ended up defeating the Mirror Knight on his first playthrough of the demo. He was over the moon, and was nicknamed 'The Trembler'. Bless him :XD:.
So, I queued back up for the DSII demo later on in the day and had more success. After a lousy start, I defeated the Mirror Knight and earned the T-Shirt (it felt so rewarding; the MK was tough!). I also had the added bonus of being the first girl to defeat the Mirror Knight, so it felt great. (:

I'll explain a little bit of what I experienced for those who couldn't go but are interested in what was there. (:

Dark Souls II Demo
The demo starts with the choice of four playable classes: Knight, Sorcerer, Temple Knight and Dual Swordsman. A note about the Sorcerer, it seems the Pyromancer class has been merged with the Sorcerer class with the catalyst being the means to cast Pyro spells. Once you have chosen your class, you are thrown into the game. No visible Dev messages to help you out. You are literally on your own. For those who have played Dark Souls, the controls are the same. You then have to fight your way towards the Mirror Knight, the boss of the demo. Yet to get there, you are given the experience of the new mechanics of gameplay and items.

The new items that are available are reminiscent of Demon's Souls; you now have extra healing items other than your Estus Flask as well as items that replenish the total amount of your spells/miracles. The new healing items are the Lifegem and the Radiant Lifegem. Admittingly, I didn't use the Radiant Lifegem, but the Lifegem seems to have a HPS counter on them, which differs from the insta-heal of the EF. There are two other items that replenish a set number of all your currently equipped spells, which has a weaker and stronger version of the item at hand. These are the Amber and Twilight Herbs.
Another item I obtained but didn't get to find out its use was I believe the Aromatic Herb? Or was it stone or orb? I can't remember... So if anyone found out what it does, please let me know! (:

The gameplay mechanics seem to rely on the use of a torch to pierce the darkest areas of the game. I don't know if they have ruled out any other light sources as of yet, but for now you have a torch. Not only does it give you an intense sense of alertness, it also robs you the safety of your shield. It purposely limits your options and makes you rely on quick judgement to get through the darkness alive. This may seem trivial but when you have a heavily armoured knight, with an archer and a crowd of undead soliders for backup, you may want to rethink that. And of course, I emphasis quick judgement as you can't use a pause menu to stop and think (remember, you don't have one). Also, it seems all enemies will follow you for much longer than those in Dark Souls so if you want to flee, know where you are going first.

Another note about the Sorcerer is that you have no stronger version of a spell, well on the demo at least, instead having changed up the spell-casting system. Much like how a melee class can use light or strong attacks, spell-casting now works the same. You now cast a light or a stronger version of the spell by using the R1 or R2 (RB/RT) buttons instead. Again, I don't know if this will be default in the main game, I only know that is how it is in the demo.

I never used the Parry mechanic, however backstabbing is still in the game. Thankfully (for those who aren't fond of PvP), it cannot insta-kill an enemy. It will do a heck of a lot of damage, but it will leave them alive. It can be chained however, as long as you are directly behind the enemy and the enemy is fully standing. If not, you will do a regular attack instead.

Also, fog doors. Ah, fog doors... If you button mash the activate button at a fog door, you will NOT get through it. There is a big time frame for interruption, so if you push the same button a second after you activate the door, your character will automatically stop from entering the door. So, a calm press of the button must be done or you will not get through it. So remember that if you plan to run through a mob of enemies to get to the next area. They may have added that so you can cancel moving onto the next area if you remember something at the last moment and are suddenly unprepared. Remember, calm is key!

That's about it for Dark Souls II. So we now move onto...

The Elder Scrolls Online BETA
I had the chance to play The Elder Scrolls Online too, which was ok; it was very fluent, the environment was appealing and the interaction with NPCs was interesting. The only thing that was kind of disappointing was the fact that you couldn't freely choose your pact (you only had the option of choosing the 3 playable races within the highlighted pact), and that fact you only had 10-15 minutes to play the game. Which, I guess, cannot be helped, however, you couldn't really get a feel for the game in such a short amount of time. This can be disputed I suppose as I understand why the time was so short (the queues were lengthily, roughly an hour and 30 minutes waiting time), but I felt they could have extended it to at least 20 minutes.
Oh, there is another positive note - the character customisation was pretty extensive, however I didn't really go into it much as I wanted to experience the gameplay :XD:.

Moving on...

Other Games
As part of a bet with my friend, I had the chance to play Call of Duty: Ghosts. Looking at the trailer, it looked pretty decent. I'm not a CoD fan, never have been, and so I cannot rightfully say if it has any advantages over the previous games or not. I experienced the Multiplayer and we played Capture the Flag (it's called something else, I know, but I cannot think of the name for the life of me). It was ok, I don't really know what to say about it. All I know is that based on your class, you can now have a dog companion. Hearing them dying repeatedly however did not sound very pleasant at all.

Beyond: Two Souls looked brilliant as well. Much like Heavy Rain, the game makes heavy use of the controller motion and QTEs. The motion capture is very life-like, a trait they seem to pull of well. It looked pretty cool, and both sections of the demo were really interesting to watch.

Destiny was being showcased at Eurogamer too. A life sized model of one of the enemies featuring in the game pretty much stole the limelight; it did look awesome, I have to admit. :XD:

Closing Section
There were a bunch of games there that I unfortunately didn't get to experience. I totally missed the 18+ section as it was upstairs, so I didn't play Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z or Payday 2. Though, from what I heard from passing gamers they both sounded good.

I have nothing else to say, only that I had a brilliant day and I hope I didn't bore you with the Dark Souls II demo breakdown. Dx
Have a great rest of the day and any Qs, I'm all ears!
